About the Opa-locka Preservation Association

Founded in 2022, the Opa-locka Preservation Association (OPA) is committed to preserving, protecting, and celebrating the historic and environmental character of Opa-locka, a uniquely storied city in Miami-Dade County incorporated in 1926. Through its efforts, the organization also fosters awareness and appreciation of Opa-lockaโ€™s rich 100-year history.

Opa-locka Heritage Trail

Opa-locka Heritage Trail

The 15-station outdoor trail is the cityโ€™s first-ever permanent historical experience thatโ€™s open to the public 24/7. Located in the historic downtown district, the Opa-locka Heritage Trail tells the founding history of the city, including the people, industries, and ideas that made it one of the most exciting places to be during the mid-to-late 1920s.

The Trail begins at the historic fire and police station, located at 151 N. Perviz Avenue, Opa-locka, FL 33054, and continues south on Perviz Avenue until Ali Baba Avenue, and then goes north on Opa-locka Boulevard finishing behind historic city hall.

Funded by non-profit Ten North Group, this was a partnership between the City of Opa-locka and the Opa-locka Preservation Association.
